Presentation regarding Street Closure Permit for the lane closure of a portion of Aspen Avenue from Lansing Avenue to the 1400 block of Aspen Avenue for natural gas pipe construction

End

Background:

B&H Construction will be constructing a new natural gas pipe to replace the existing pipe on behalf of Oklahoma Natural Gas parallel to Aspen Avenue near the Union Pacific Railroad crossing.  In order to safely perform the operations, the contractor is requesting to close the outside, southbound lane of Aspen Avenue.  The closure will start around 1200 feet north of the railroad crossing and taper back to an open configuration approximately 200’ south of the railroad crossing.

Section 23-28 of the Broken Arrow Code provides for the closure of roads during construction. It provides that City personnel or contractors, while repairing or improving the streets of the city, and city personnel and utility companies, when installing, improving or repairing lines or other public facilities in the streets, are hereby authorized as necessary, subject to control by the City Manager, to close any street during the repair, maintenance, or construction. Closure is, of course, predicated on the erection of proper control devices and barricades to warn and notify the public that the street has been closed to traffic.

The planned road closure will take effect on 3/20/2024 and last until 4/20/2024.  The lane will be closed at 7a.m. and reopened by 4p.m. daily.

Traffic signs will be placed along the roadway prior to closure alerting the traveling public of the pending detour.
