Background:
The Houston Street Widening from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue project (ST2028) is being designed by Poe & Associates, Inc. and is a named 2018 GO Bond, Proposition 1 Transportation Project. This amendment for design would shift the centerline alignment 9.5’ south from approximately Station 140+00 (Sweet Gum Avenue) through the Olive Avenue intersection. Modify the Haikey Creek RCB extension south to accommodate the roadway alignment shift along with associated roadway drainage inlets and pipes. Modifications will be made to the Traffic Signal Plan and Pole locations at Olive Avenue to minimize impact of new signals on existing Energy Transfer pipeline easement. The traffic signage, sequence, and striping plan including temporary striping at the Olive intersection to connect to existing Houston Street to the east. Updates will be made to roadway cross sections, roadway and traffic signal pay items, and effected plan sheets and index for the changes. The Engineering & Construction Department recommends amending the original contract with Poe & Associates, Inc. for the amount of $79,870.00 to provide the additional needed services.
