Award the most advantageous bid to Automatic Engineering for installation of a submersible chopper pump including connections to the force main and electrical and monitoring components at the Southpark South lift station
End
Background:
The Southpark South lift station at 6701 S. Elm Place was constructed in 1995 and has been identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan for replacement design. The proposed improvements are to replace existing pumps that have failed and cannot be repaired due to parts being obsolete. The contractor will be responsible for the installation of a submersible chopper pump into the existing wet well, connect all piping and check valves to the pump and force main, connect all electrical and monitoring components, conduct bypass operations during construction, fabricate a steel top, and provide a jib crane for the pump with a stainless-steel chain.
City Purchasing Department solicited bids for the project listed in the bid tab from five (5) vendors and received four (4) complete bid proposals from three (3) vendors. Utilities staff has reviewed the bids and recommends award to the second lowest bidder Automatic Engineering, option #1, as the most advantageous bidder in the amount of $34,321.67 due to better pump efficiency and a no clog guarantee. Funding is from the BAMA FY2022 annual budget, Account Number 2205415 540280.
