Background:
The Utilities Department has budgeted for the purchase of two (2) 1-ton, crew cab, 4-wheel drive work trucks with utility beds for the Water Reclamation Division.
Attempts to obtain bids on packages that included cab, chassis and specific service bodies did not produce any results. Bid numbers 22.140, 22.144, 22.145 and 22.149 were sent to multiple vendors without any responses for each one. Purchasing has continued to solicit vendors that provide this type of equipment and John Vance Motors has responded with the immediate availability of these two trucks. One truck will replace a ½ ton pickup truck, unit number 1456, and the other will be utilized as a chase truck for the sewer jet truck. Staff has confirmed that the ¾-ton trucks will be sufficient for their applicable uses.
Pricing for the two (2) 3/4-ton trucks are reflected in the attached bid tabulation. The bid tabulation includes only one vendor submitting bids for these trucks. The funding source will be from the Utilities Capital Outlay project number 2254260, account number 2205415 570020. Utilities Department recommends acceptance of the bid from John Vance Motors Inc. for two Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab 4-wheel drive trucks with utility service bodies as the most advantageous bid.
