Title:

title

Approval of and authorization of a new spending limit for the new fiscal year for TEKsystems’ professional services on an as needed basis

End

Background:

On March 1, 2022, the City Council approved the TEKsystems services agreement for the prior fiscal year, authorizing spending of up to $15,000 as needed to supplement and augment the IT Department in certain areas to support City technological platforms.  Using TEKsystems for professional services has been especially beneficial to the City as it has allowed IT to utilize technological skill sets that are not currently part of the IT Department, yet are required for specific support work.

The IT Department utilizes vendors and their professional services to perform a great deal of technical work on a day-to-day basis such as helping repair telephone systems, maintain network routers, or support any of the many technological platforms the City uses when the work required is exceedingly complex.  In this way, TEKsystems provides similar services albeit in the form of providing a temporary resource to complete such a task.  The approved IT Department’s Professional Services operational expense budget is what funds these technical services.

This request is to continue in the new fiscal year with a new full-year authorization for IT professional services to help complete projects and address IT’s day to day services on an as needed basis.

TEKsystems provides temporary IT staffing in the metro area, and is considered a single source provider.
