Background:
Bids were requested and sought from several vendors to purchase a V8 powered coupe for the school resource officer unit. Only two vendors submitted a bid.
The bid from Jim Norton Chevrolet met specifications of bid 21-143 at $35,111.00 and is recommended for purchase. This vehicle will be assigned to a School Resource Officer (SRO) to replace an aging patrol vehicle. This vehicle will remain in the unit should the officer transfer out in the future. The cost of this vehicle is comparable to a patrol Durango. This vehicle is unique to the SRO unit and will also be used to promote the police department at public events. The purchase of this vehicle is designed to enhance public relations especially as they apply to the SRO unit and the students they serve.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in Police Department’s portion of the Sales Tax Capital Improvement Fund.
