Consideration, discussion and possible vote on the repeal of Resolution No. 1383, a Resolution regarding the use of masks and other protective measures to reduce community transmission of the COVID-19
End
Background:
On March 2, 2021, by a 3-2 margin, Council approved Resolution No. 1383, a Resolution regarding the use of masks and other protective measures to reduce community transmission of the Covid-19 virus.
On March 12, 2021 Governor Kevin Stitt issued Executive Department First Amended Executive Order 2021-07 extending Oklahoma’s state of emergency in all 77 counties due to COVID-19, but ending the mask mandate in state government buildings for both staff and visitors and also eliminating the limitation on the size of social and public gatherings in attendance that limits youth, sporting events and extracurricular activities.
In light of Governor Stitt’s March 12, 20201 order, the fact that the vaccine is now available to the general public, and primarily because of the downward trend in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Broken Arrow community, Councilmembers Wimpee and Gillespie have requested this matter be placed on the April 20, 2021 agenda for consideration, discussion and a possible vote to repeal Resolution No. 1383.
