Approval of and authorization to execute Professional Consulting Agreement with Carollo Engineers, Inc. for the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant East Clarifier Rehabilitation & Belt Filter Press Building Addition (Project Numbers 2154220 & 2154200, respectively)

Background:
The first part of this project is for design and construction of Belt Filter Press Building Addition at the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant (LLWWTP). The work will include removal of an existing belt filter press for surplus/salvage and evaluation of available current sludge dewatering technologies to replace this belt filter press. Once selected, the new dewatering alternative will be designed, including mechanical and electrical/control modifications needed for the new press. Also included will be the demolition of the existing dry polymer system and design of a new liquid polymer activation and feed system. Building modifications will also be included in this project to improve accessibility to the belt filter presses including the addition of a roll up door and an access ramp into the containment area for forklift access. These improvements are anticipated to increase the efficiency of sludge dewatering and the reliability of this part of the treatment process at the LLWWTP.
The second part of this project consists of the rehabilitation of the existing East secondary clarifier to demolish the existing cast in place concrete effluent launder and chlorine diffuser ring and install new stainless steel effluent launders and a diffuser. Miscellaneous minor repairs of the clarifier will also be included.
An Agreement with Carollo Engineers, Inc. was negotiated and will include design and construction documents for these two projects. The Belt Filter Press Building Addition design fee is $316,000.00 and the East Clarifier design fee is $138,000 for a total fee of $454,000.00.
