Presentation of Living Green Program Certification to Broken Arrow Public Schools for the design and construction of Rosewood Elementary
End
Background:
The City of Broken Arrow encourages the use of Low Impact Development (LID) practices on development sites through the Living Green Program to reduce the impacts of building on the surrounding environment. These practices are specifically implemented to improve storm water quality, open space, site aesthetics, sustainability and quality of life. We are proud to be awarding Bronze Level Certification to Broken Arrow Public Schools for their newly constructed Rosewood Elementary. Through planning and construction, a number of best practices have been incorporated, including: preservation of mature trees, inclusion of rain gardens and a rainwater cistern as part of an outdoor classroom, installation of a wind and solar inverter, and creation of a long-term maintenance and operation plan for the various site amenities. As a Living Green certified location, Broken Arrow Public Schools understands the importance of preserving and enhancing our community’s natural resources for this generation and the ones to follow. The Community Development Department requests the City Council recognize BAPS as a community leader in sustainable design, and present to them the Living Green certification and plaque.
