Broken Arrow City Council

Meeting of: 10-20-2020

Title:

title

Acceptance of the Drainage Advisory Committee’s recommendation of the expenditure of up to a maximum of $15,000.00 to design, obtain necessary easements and construct the drainage and erosion control improvements to the watercourse in Waterford Park II subdivision

End

Background:

Stormwater runoff from Waterford Park II Subdivision is collected in a public storm sewer and conveyed to the drainage way running in a reserve along the northwest corner of the subdivision.  The public storm sewer has eroded away some of the private property.  The discharge flow combined with the upstream flow has caused some undercutting of the outfall line.  The City desires to armor protect this outfall location in order to better protect the public utility while reducing erosion to the private property.

After reviewing the information presented in the staff report, the Drainage Advisory Committee recommended approval (6-0, 1 recused) of No. 20-004 as per staff recommendation.  Proposition 6 of the 2018 General Obligation Bonds provides funds for the purpose of drainage improvements to property owned exclusively or in part by the City.  The City will need to obtain a permanent easement to make the recommended improvements.

The project is located in the Aspen Creek Basin.
