Background:

On August 6, 2019 the City Council formed a twelve person Advisory Committee to review, analyze and prepare recommendations for improvements to New Orleans Square, previously known as Elm and New Orleans Special Study Area. After meeting for a year this committee presented its final report and recommendation to the City Council on Sept. 1st 2020. With the conclusion of this report the committee has concluded its assignment and has been dissolved.

The rejuvenation process of New Orleans Square has started and is in progress, with the start of Tactical Urbanism projects, the Branding and Marketing effort with Brandera and other studies to commence soon.

To continue with this effort, the City Council is recommended to form a new informal advisory committee, of about five persons, to provide suggestions and guidance towards the various future steps and projects to be overseen for New Orleans Square.
