Background:
The Washington Street (91st Street South) Improvements from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue (129th East Avenue) is a 2014 Streets General Obligation Bond project. Original project number is ST1616. The Bond issue calls for widening Washington from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue (129th Est Avenue) including all appurtenances. The improvements on Washington Street from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue include approximately 1.0 mile of roadway widening from 3 to 5 lanes with asphalt pavement along with the addition of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, trail, driveways, water line relocation, traffic signalization, enclosed storm sewer system, retaining wall, RCB bridge widening and RCP cross drain extension.
The ST1616 contract was originally awarded to H&G Paving Contractors, Inc., and issued a Notice to Proceed in 2018. After reaching a separation agreement between the City of Broken Arrow and H&G Paving Contractors, Inc., change order No. 2 was issued on September 1, 2020 in which their obligations to all unfinished work on the project to date would be underran, with exemption of traffic control services til September 30th, 2020, as well as the Olive Avenue and Washington Street intersection signal work. The City of Broken Arrow's Streets and Stormwater Department have continued construction within this project for all other obligations of the original contract with exception of the reinforced concrete structures on the project.
