Background:
In 2018, the voters in Broken Arrow approved of the construction of a new Armed Forces Meeting Hall as part of the 2018 General Obligation Bond Program. The facility is to be located on Main Street adjacent to Veteran’s Park. The building is intended to create a meeting space and home office location for our community’s Armed Forces veterans and support groups, including the American Legion Post 110, Blue Star Mothers Chapter 5, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 589, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10887, and Vietnam Veterans of America Post 216.
The user group has asked for the name of the building to be changed to the ‘Broken Arrow Veteran’s Center.’ The language of the 2018 General Obligation Bond states “construct an Armed Forces Meeting Hall near Veteran’s Park in downtown area.”
Attached are elevation drawings of the building reflecting each of the possible building names.
