Ratification of Workers’ Compensation Court Order for Gary Snyder, current Fire Department employee

Background:
The City received an Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Court Order for Gary Snyder, a current employee of the Fire Department. The Court Order is presented for Council’s ratification.
Mr. Snyder was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2010. A trial was held on August 27, 2020, to determine the City’s obligation to pay permanent partial disability benefits to Mr. Snyder. The Court found Mr. Snyder has a 21% permanent partial disability to the whole man as a result of his cancer.
The sum of $37,695.00 (105 weeks at $359.00 for permanent partial disability) was awarded to the claimant less claimant’s attorney fees of $7,539.00. The sum of $140.00 was paid to the Workers’ Compensation Commission as a final award fee. The sum of $1,036.61 was paid for applicable taxes.
