Background:

The War at Home Memorial is an expansion to Veterans Park.  The War at Home Memorial honors those soldiers who have fallen in the War against Veteran suicide.  The City will be partnering with the Mission 22 non-profit organization and the Muscogee Creek Nation to construct this memorial.  The City has contracted with R.L. Shears Company, P.C. to design and prepare construction documents for the War at Home Memorial.

The City is committing to spend $120,000 on the project as well as providing the project management and construction administration for the project.  The Muscogee Creek Nation is committing approximately $58,000 for the project as well as providing some professional services to assist the project.  Mission 22 is committing $200,000 to the project in addition to providing all of the silhouettes of the fallen soldiers.

It should be noted that the City has its funds budgeted and available.  Likewise, the Muscogee Creek Nation has its funds budgeted and available.  Mission 22 is in the process of securing its funds.  Mission 22 is expected to secure its full amount by spring 2021 or earlier.
