Background:  The Council, as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget, has previously approved a Sales Tax Capital Improvement project to purchase heavy rescue equipment. The Fire Department seeks to purchase the heavy rescue equipment to upgrade and replace existing equipment.  The airbags, struts, and accessories listed in the quote are used by the firefighters for extrication of victims from vehicle accidents and other entrapments.  The upgraded equipment will improve the firefighter’s ability to rescue victims from heavier vehicles and structures.
