Consideration, discussion and possible approval of and authorization to execute a First Amended Employment Contract for Professional Services with Steve Edgar as Presiding Judge for the City of Broken Arrow’s Municipal Court

Background:
On April 16, 2018, the Judicial Nominating Committee met to consider the positions of the Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge of the Broken Arrow Municipal Court. At that time, the Committee unanimously voted to recommend that Steven E. Edgar be re-appointed as Presiding Judge. The Mayor accepted this recommendation and reappointed Judge Edgar at the City’s regularly scheduled meeting on May 15, 2018. This appointment expires on May 30, 2020.
Per City Ordinance 14-6.1, prior to the expiration of a Judge’s term, the Judicial Nominating Committee shall meet and shall submit to the Mayor its recommendation concerning the sitting Judge’s reappointment.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no meeting of the Judicial Nominating Committee has taken place. This First Amended Employment Contract would allow the Judge to provide services to the City for an additional one-month period, expiring on June 30, 2020, thereby allowing the Judicial Nominating Committee to make its recommendation to the Mayor for his consideration.
Cost: $3,980.31 per month plus FICA taxes
