Approval of and authorization to purchase a new Firearm Simulator from TI Training LE, LLC which includes the upgrade and refurbishment of the Police Department’s existing Firearms Simulator for the Police Department

End

Background:

On April 15th, 2020 a bid was solicited for the purchase of a newer and larger Firearm Simulator. The Police Department’s existing Firearms Simulator is nonfunctioning and outdated. The bid included the upgrade and refurbishment of the Police Department’s existing firearms simulator allowing two functioning scenario based training aids available for training purposes. Only one vendor submitted a bid.

The bid from TI Training LE, LLC met specifications at $69,950.00 and is recommended for purchase.

The Firearm Simulator is being purchased to meet the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training standards of providing scenario based training in the firearms portion of the basic academy. The Firearms Simulator will also be utilized for the Police Officers yearly in service training to provide “use of force” scenario based training. The Police Department will also use the Firearms Simulator in our public outreach mission such as the Citizen’s Police Academy and Leadership Broken Arrow.

The funding for the Firearms Simulator has been appropriated and is available in the Police Department’s Public Safety Sales Tax Fund.
