Consideration, discussion and possible action by City Council directing the City Manager to draft and prepare additional measures for the enforcement of the CDC guidelines for essential businesses, including the drafting of ordinances

End

Background:

On March 29, 20, Governor Kevin Stitt issued his Sixth Amended Executive Order 2020-07 to address the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic in Oklahoma.  On April 1, 2020 Governor Stitt issued his Seventh Amended Executive Order 2020-07 requiring critical infrastructure sector businesses to “take all reasonable steps necessary to comply with this Order and protect their employees, workers and patrons.”

On April 1, 2020, the City Manager sent several City of Broken Arrow essential businesses a letter enclosing Governor Stitt’s Executive Order along with a copy of the CDC’s “Keeping the Workplace Safe” guidelines.  Mr. Spurgeon encouraged our essential businesses to place a greater emphasis on preventing large crowds from gathering inside such stores and to make it easier for customers to stay at least 6 feet away both inside and outside of such businesses.

A copy of the City Manager’s letter is attached. This item allows Council to consider, discuss and provide further direction to the City Manager to take further measures for the enforcement of the CDC guidelines for essential businesses.
