Background:

The Broken Arrow City Council views the Rooster Days festival as one of the most beloved events within the State. This year marks the 89th anniversary of Rooster Days which is said to have began in the early 1930s when the Chamber of Commerce established a special day for farmers to bring their excess roosters to market. Through the years, the festival has transformed into a much-anticipated celebration which includes music, a martketplace, carnival rides and much more.

 

The Broken Arrow City Council recognizes Rooster Days as an important city event which is meant to bring people from inside and outside Broken Arrow to partake in days of fun-filled activities. The Council recognizes that events such as Rooster Days are vital in maintaining a sense of community within the City of Broken Arrow.

 

This item is placed on the Agenda for Council discussion and possible approval and authorization of Resolution No. 1318 declaring Rooster Days on September 3-6, 2020, a holiday.
