Background:
The City of Broken Arrow had a replacement retaining wall designed and construction plans prepared for the Hillside Drive Retaining Wall Replacement project. Bid documents were prepared and advertised on December 11 and December 18, 2019. Two bids were received and opened on January 3, 2020. Both bids came in significantly over the City’s construction budget. The apparent low bidder, Sherwood Construction Co., Inc., for the base bid alone was $1,990,000.00 which is $490,000.00 over the City’s project budget of $1,500,000.00.
The Engineering & Construction Department reached out to the apparent low bidder, Sherwood Construction Co., Inc., requesting a 15 day extension, for good cause, to award the bid for the project and the contractor accepted.
