Ratification of the motorcycle safety training and awareness grant application and agreement for fiscal year 2019-2020 with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office

Background:

The Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office in the amount of $28,252.00. Funding will be utilized in the following purpose areas: (1) Overtime for Motorcycle Safety Training Courses, (2) Overtime for Motorcycle Safety Awareness Efforts, and (3) Operating Costs.

 

Specifically, the proposed grant funds will allow Officers and designated civilian employees to provide motorcyclist survival courses while in an overtime capacity in support of State and National goals to decrease the number of fatality and serious injury motorcycle collisions in our community, as well as to increase the number of skilled motorcycle operators. The operating costs funds will be used to purchase supplies related to these courses.
