Background:
The Fire Department budgeted $70,000 in the Fiscal Year 2020 Sales Tax Capital Improvement budget for the purpose of purchasing new sets of structural firefighting gear. The Fire Department is in need of approximately 23 pant and coat sets and a small variety of boots and helmets to replace deteriorated gear. In 2017, the city awarded the most advantageous bid to Northern Safety, Casco Industries, Inc. and NAFECO for these items and entered into a contract for a 3 year term. The contract allows for these purchases with a five percent annual increase.
