title
Consideration, discussion and possible approval and authorization to execute the City of Broken Arrow Innovation District Services Professional Consultant Contract
End

Background:
The City of Broken Arrow staff, along with members of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), and representatives of the Broken Arrow School District have met as a small advisory group, to consider and pursue the development of an Innovation District Plan. In May 2018, the City entered into a Phase I contract with Halff Associates to evaluate sites and consider projected locations for an Innovation District including undeveloped land adjoining the Northeastern State University (N.S.U.) - Broken Arrow campus.
After further study and meetings with N.S.U. representatives, it was determined that land adjoining the N.S.U. campus was not available and could not be acquired.
The City of Broken Arrow, along with the Economic Development Corporation and the Innovation District sub-committee has met with Halff Associates. After detailed consultation, a Phase II study of the Innovation District is being proposed.
The proposed Phase II contract and scope of services for the Innovation District is a road map to study and analyze the foundation of an Innovation District.
It is anticipated that this phase of the project will take approximately eight to ten months. The consultants and the sub-committee will be tasked to define goals, location and future options for of the Innovation District with the principal goal of creating a future job market for citywide businesses and citywide endeavors.
