Title:
title
Approval of and authorization to purchase one (1) full sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) from Vance Chevrolet for the Fire Department as the most advantageous bid pursuant to the Oklahoma Statewide Contract

End

Background:
The Fire Department recently researched Full Sized Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) for Fire Department staff personnel. The vendors deemed acceptable are identified on the attached bid tabulations from the Oklahoma State Contract SW35 (item# 1000009398). The Fire Department has identified the Chevrolet Tahoe as the preferred vehicle for purchase. Pursuant to the State Contract, Vance Chevrolet can provide the Chevrolet Tahoe with the identified options at $35,619.00. Other SUV's are available for purchase, including the Dodge Durango and the Ford Expedition.
Although the Chevrolet Tahoe is not the lowest priced vehicle, the Fire Department has determined that the Tahoe is most advantageous due to the identified options in the bid tab and the need for a dual battery. In the past, the City has purchased full-sized Ford Expeditions which are not capable of having dual batteries. The Dodge vehicle also does not have dual battery capabilities. The dual battery system in the Pursuit Tahoe comes standard. It is preferable to better handle the electrical load on vehicles with radios, computers and other electronic devices. Also, the Tahoe comes from the factory with pre-run wiring for emergency equipment. This factory installed wiring will save fleet mechanic time and funding to install the emergency equipment.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in the Sales Tax Capital Improvement Fund in the amount of $45,000.00 for the purchase of this vehicle.
The Fire Department recommends that the Council approve the purchase of the Chevrolet Tahoe from Vance Chevrolet.
