Background:

 

This item comes before the Council to advise of upcoming out-of-state travel by City Council members for September and October 2019:

Mayor Craig Thurmond and Vice Mayor Scott Eudey have been invited by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to attend the Australia State Visit Arrival Ceremony on September 20, 2019. Both will be traveling to Washington, DC for the event which will honor Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s arrival to America. 

Mayor Craig Thurmond will accompany City Manager Michael Spurgeon, Economic Development Manager Norm Stephens, Broken Arrow Economic Development Corporation and Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce staff, and the Governor’s Economic Development Marketing Team (GEDMT) to New York City on October 15-18, 2019. 

The purpose of the trip is to support the Governor’s mission to recruit development to the State of Oklahoma. Representatives from the City and Chamber will also have the opportunity to meet one on one with developers and provide specific information about the City of Broken Arrow.
