Background:
City Staff is requesting that Chapter 16, Section 12 Subsection 5 be waived to allow:
1. The construction and installation of lighting, ring and production equipment needed to promote and support the Rumble in the Rose District event. Construction and installation is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. on August 21st and continue through evening hours, overnight hours and daytime hours through August 23rd;
2. Rumble in the Rose District activities which may exceed the code restrictions; and,
3. Removal of all lighting, ring and production equipment which will begin immediately after the event has ended and will continue until August 24th at approximately 4:00 a.m.
Please note the City Manager's office has previously approved the closing of Main Street from Broadway south to Dallas for the above referenced construction/installation. Commercial from the west alley to the east alley will also be closed, however drive through banking access for 1st National Bank will remain available. City Staff will notify in advance all residents in the 100 - 300 block of South Main Street about the extended work hours.
Finally, the event area does include closing of Main Street from Dallas south to Ft Worth and Dallas and El Paso streets from alley to alley on August 23rd beginning at 6:30 a.m.
