Background:
The Police Department is requesting that the City approve the purchase of 5 Spacesaver pass thru evidence lockers with ControLoc and 1 Spacesaver 4-door refrigerated evidence locker that is not ControLoc compatible from Southwest Solutions Group, Inc. The Spacesaver evidence lockers are being purchased as part of a police property room expansion that will better meet the current and future demands of the agency. Spacesaver Corporation is a sole source vendor and manufacturer of the ControLoc locking mechanism and is the only lock system that allows authorized employees access to the lockers, via their current building access fobs. The ControLoc Technology then documents the date and time that employees access the lockers. Southwest Solutions Group is a contract vendor for the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing agreement (formerly NJPA), which the City is a member (membership #67325). Funding for $59,900 has been budgeted in the Police Public Safety Sales Tax, Project #203005.
