Background:
The City of Broken Arrow has created a new Tourism & Economic Development Office (TED), with the purpose of increasing sales tax revenue and generating economic development opportunities throughout the City. Specifically, the TED office desires to achieve the following objectives: drive increased spending in Broken Arrow by both residents and visitors, increase foot traffic in the Rose District, and increase overnight stays in Broken Arrow hotels. In order to achieve our objectives, we are requesting to retain the services of Ghost and Anglin PR to develop a strategic marketing plan for tourism and engage residents to support local businesses.
Staff sent out a Request for Qualifications and interviewed several marketing firms before deciding on Ghost/Anglin. The Ghost/Anglin team recommends creating a marketing strategy that segments our efforts into distinct campaigns, such as a shop local campaign. Another campaign will focus on conferences and conventions by using search and social media retargeting; help people understand that if they're attending a conference or convention in Broken Arrow or surrounding areas (including Tulsa), Broken Arrow is an attractive and affordable place to stay, escape and have fun while they're here. Additionally, our many sporting events will also be the focus of the team's marketing efforts. The TED office particularly wants to get easily accessible information to parents and coaches so they can book hotels in Broken Arrow.
