Background:
The new Fire Station No. 3 will be located at 5420 South 23rd Street. This station is designed with 2 bays (Base Bid) and a third bay is included as Additive Alternate No. 1. Additive Alternate No. 2 includes High Speed Bay Doors and Additive Alternate No. 3 upgrades the roofing material to Standing Seam Metal Roofing in lieu of the Base Bid Ribbed Roofing.
The project was advertised on May 28th and June 4th, 2019. Four Bids were received and opened on July 16th, 2019. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. Three of the bids were non-responsive and the remaining bid (from Magnum Construction, Inc.) was at least 38% higher than the project budget. The Magnum Construction, Inc. base bid was $4,645,000.00 and the project construction budget was $3,358,413.00.
