Presentation on the County Line Trunk Sewer Improvement Project
End

Background:
On June 3, 2019, the Broken Arrow Municipal Authority approved and authorized the execution of a public construction contract for Phase I of the County Line trunk sewer to Belt Construction, Inc. in the amount of $16,048,115.86. The Project is funded through Oklahoma Water Resources Board loan program. It consists of removing the existing concrete sewer and replacing it with larger diameter PVC material sewer line. The new gravity sewer line will extend from the new headworks facility just constructed at the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant to a point about one quarter mile north of Florence Street along the west side of 23rd Street (County Line Road). The total length of the new sewer is approximately three (3) and one-half (1/2) miles.
The original County Line trunk sewer was constructed in 1985. It begins at Washington Street (91st Street South) and runs south along 23rd Street (County Line) to Broken Arrow Creek just north of Tucson Street (121st Street South). At this point, the sewer follows Broken Arrow Creek a few miles to the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Facility which was constructed in 1982.
The County Line trunk sewer is constructed of concrete pipe and over the years has experienced severe pipe deterioration and degradation. The sewer gases has deteriorated the top of the concrete pipe material to the point where much of the material has broken off and fallen into the sewer. Likewise, several of the steel manhole rims have disintegrated due to the caustic gases.
The Utility Department crews have routinely had to address unpermitted bypasses of sewer flow and make numerous point repairs over the past several years. This project will address these problems with the collection system from Florence Street to the plant.
