Award the lowest responsible bid to A & A Asphalt, Inc., and approve and authorize execution of a construction contract for Cold Milling Asphalt Streets

Background:
To assist the Streets and Stormwater Department in their street maintenance program, the Engineering and Construction Department advertised a “non-encumbered” contract for Cold Milling Asphalt Streets. The contract will be awarded based on unit prices, then work orders will be issued against the main contract for various milling jobs. The contract will be awarded for a one-year period, with up to two possible renewals at the same unit prices.
The project was advertised for bids on April 1 and April 8, 2019. Bids were opened on April 23, 2019 and two (2) bids were received. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached and the Engineer’s Estimate was $360,000.00. The lowest responsible bidder was A & A Asphalt, Inc., with a bid of $200,500.00.
Cost: $200,500.00
