Recognition of Broken Arrow citizen Jackson Mears for his volunteer work for the City of Broken Arrow
End
Background:
Jackson Mears is a ten-year old in Mrs. Mulcahy’s 4th grade class at Country Lane Intermediate in Broken Arrow. As part of this class, Jackson and his classmates are involved in a project called Genius Hour as a part of the Passion Service Project.
Mrs. Mulcahy tasked her students to think of ways to help in areas they are most passionate about. Jackson chose to volunteer with Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful picking up trash on North Elm. In a letter from Jackson, he states, “They gave us trash bags and cool safety vests to wear. They were very happy that we wanted to volunteer!”
Jackson further states that his mother and he “spent about 2 hours picking up all kinds of trash. It was really gross! I was so glad we wore gloves! After we got done, it was good to see how clean it looked!”
Staff applaud Jackson’s pride for his city, and would like the Council to recognize his efforts to keep Broken Arrow a great place to live.
