Approval of and authorization to award Summit Truck Group as the most advantageous bid to replace the diesel engine in the fire department ambulance unit #1402

End

Background:

On January 16, 2019 unit #1402 (Fire department ambulance) began experiencing mechanical issues so on February 14, 2019 the diesel engine was disassembled and was diagnosed as a complete failure.  The diesel engine was out of warranty due to its age and mileage. Fleet Maintenance solicited repair estimate bids from four local vendors and received two bids on April 5, 2019.  The estimates called for replacing the engine with a new engine from the manufacturer so that the diesel engine will have the full manufacturer’s warranty.

Cost:                                                                $31,305.48

Funding Source:                     Public Safety Sales Tax Fund-Fire Operations
