Approval of and authorization to execute an engagement letter with Crawford & Associates for fiscal year 2019-2020

Background:
The last few years the City has engaged Crawford & Associates to prepare the annual financial statements which include preparation of the basic financial statements and required supplementary information. For fiscal year 2019-20 the Finance Department is planning on completing a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which will provide more information than the basic financial statements. We also plan on submitting to the National Government Finance Officer Association to participate in the Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. Prior to Crawford & Associates the finance department prepared the annual financial statements. With all the changes that are required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the City wanting to change to preparing a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) staff recommends continuing with Crawford & Associates.
Cost: $60,000 estimated
Funding Source: Budgeted in General Government Departments in General Fund and BAMA
