Consideration, discussion, and possible approval to appoint one council member to the Broken Arrow Public Schools’ Redefining Ready Planning Committee

End

Background:

“Redefining Ready!” is a national initiative launched by The School Superintendents Association (AASA) to introduce new research-based metrics to more appropriately assess which students are college ready, career ready and life ready.

Broken Arrow School Superintendent, Dr. Janet Dunlop, has asked the City Manager and one City Council member to participate in the Redefining Ready Planning Committee.  This group will answer the following question, “What do we, as a community, want in a high school graduate?” The committee is tasked with creating a portrait of a high school graduate, which will include defining metrics and priorities for the Broken Arrow School District.

The committee will meet on the following dates: April 9, May 2, May 21, and May 30 (tentative, if needed).

The City Manager requests that the council nominate and vote for one member to be a member of this committee.
