Background:
The original design of the Albany Street Improvements project from 9th Street to 23rd Street, did not include proposed sidewalk along the west side of 12th Street. The decision was made to add proposed sidewalk along the west side of 12th Street which requires the extension of an existing triple cell reinforced concrete box, modifications to the 12th and Albany streets intersection, and additional proposed right-of-way for the box extension/sidewalk addition. Also, a portion of the south side stormwater design was broken out for bid and construction separately from the overall Albany Street Improvements which requires coordination and modification of the final Albany Street Improvements plans. In order to incorporate these revisions to the final design, Holloway, Updike and Bellen, Inc. requested from and negotiated with Engineering and Construction Department staff an amendment for the required design work.
