Background:
Nearly 1,000 people die every day in the United States from sudden cardiac arrest. The Broken Arrow Fire Department responds to over 130 cardiac arrests annually. The PulsePoint application (app) empowers everyday citizens to provide life-saving assistance. The PulsePoint mobile application notifies nearby users of victims, in a public place, in need of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The app also provides mapping to the victim and closest automatic external defibrillator (AED). PulsePoint reports over 1,000,000 users with approximately 40 activations each day. Broken Arrow continues to be the only city in Oklahoma to utilize this valuable tool.

The Broken Arrow PulsePoint Application currently has 896 followers and has alerted 71 citizens about 38 potential CPR needs in the last year.

Saint Francis Hospital South is 96-bed community hospital serving Broken Arrow, South Tulsa and the vicinity with general and emergency services. Saint Francis Hospital South has partnered with the Broken Arrow Fire Department to deliver PulsePoint to those who live, work, and play in Broken Arrow. As part of Saint Francis South's continued dedication to this community, the hospital has donated $4,000 towards the renewal of the PulsePoint mobile application.
