Approval of and authorization to withdraw the purchase of one (1) 3/4-ton crew cab truck from Bob Howard Dodge and delay the purchase until after the statewide vehicle contract is updated

Background:
The Information Technologies (IT) Department has budgeted for the purchase of one (1) 3/4-ton crew cab pickup. This truck was authorized and approved for purchase from Bill Knight Ford at the August 21, 2018 Council meeting.
After knowledge that certain options requested required appearance packages, the bid tab was adjusted to remove the options that cause an appearance package to be required. The bid tab was also adjusted for price increases Ford had recently put in place. On October 10, 2018, staff requested and Council approved re-awarding the purchase to Bob Howard Dodge as the Bill Knight Ford truck was no longer the lowest price of those available in the state contract for this type of truck.
On October 11, 2018 the Purchasing Department contacted Bob Howard Dodge to place the order and learned that Dodge had stopped taking orders for that class truck, even though dealer stated pricing was good until November 14, 2018.
Staff recommends that the Council withdraw the approval and authorization to purchase the truck from Bob Howard Dodge and delay the purchase after the new statewide vehicle contract is in place.
