Background:

ScotFest will be hosting the annual ScotFest event on September 14, 15 and 16th, 2018 at the Broken Arrow Events Park.  ScotFest is a celebration of Celtic history, music and heritage that is the biggest and best in the region.  This three day festival is expected to attract over 25,000 people to Broken Arrow and the Broken Arrow Events Park.  The event features live Celtic musical entertainers that are locally, nationally and internationally known.  Music for all tastes from the rowdy and robust Celtic rock music on one stage and the more traditional folk Celtic music on another.

This year’s event will feature a great selection of Scottish, Irish and International beers, as well as specialty whisky tastings and of course traditional Scottish and American food!  In the vendor area, Scottish and Celtic crafts and products will be available and include demonstrations of Scottish traditional domestic skills.  Educational sessions - including genealogy and family (clan) history - will take place throughout the day.

The event will also feature Scottish and Irish dance demonstrations, solo piping and drumming, pipe band competitions featuring talent from across the U.S. and abroad; as well as, Scottish heavy athletic competitions, with over 150 national and international athletes.

The Special Events Committee in their meeting of August 16th, 2018 recommended approval of the request for Special Event Permit.  The anticipated cost for Scotfest to use of the facility and city personnel to support the event is $18,025 and the City Manager has agreed to waive $5,000.00 of these cost.
