Background:
The City of Broken Arrow (COBA) engaged Olsson Associates, Inc. (Olsson) to prepare construction plans for a secondary wall in front of the existing wall, as directed by City Council on January 19, 2019. The first wall design was based on lowering the elevation of the development area in front of the wall by 7 feet, approximately, with the construction of a so called Soldier Pile Wall. By drilling down to solid rock, this wall would have stabilized the existing wall, while allowing the development of the front, or north side.
Since that design was complete, the development has been modified to require only a 3 to 4 foot drop on the development side. This reduction will save significant dirt removal costs for a developer, and make the construction of the wall significantly cheaper for the COBA. This design Amendment No. 1, would engage Olsson to modify their initial design to accommodate this change in elevation. The submittal of their fee proposal is $17,200.00, and the attached Amendment No. 1 to Agreement for Professional Consulting Services was prepared.
