Background:

The legal department was recently asked to review the Section 2-211 of the Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances governing the appointment of members to the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Recently, the ordinance was amended to allow for an appointment of a councilmember to serve on the board. Due to potential scheduling conflicts it is recommended that the appointed councilmember be allowed to designate an alternate to serve in his/her place. The legal department recommends this change as this is a normal practice for various board and trusts in the State. Additionally, the ordinance is being amended to remove the numbered positions to avoid any confusion.
