Background:

Oscar Nipps, Jr. is a longtime Broken Arrow resident and dedicated Military History Center volunteer. He is a World War II veteran, having served as a rifleman and company cook with the 1st Calvary Division.

The Military History Center submitted a formal request to the City Manager and City Council on April 25, 2018, requesting a temporary Broken Arrow street sign be created in Mr. Nipps’ honor. The honorary street name of “Oscar Nipps, Jr. Boulevard” would be placed below the permanent street signs. The requested location is the segment of South 1st Place extending from Washington Street to New Orleans Street.
