Background:

As part of the Fire Departments general operations 2017-2018 budget funds were approved for repair or replacement of existing pavements at Fire Station #5. The existing pavement that needed addressing is comprised of asphalt on the side drive lanes and concrete on the front apparatus drive. The project was broken down into three phases; concrete patch repairs on the front apparatus drive, full depth remove and replace with concrete on the back apparatus approach, and a 2” mill and overlay for the side drive and parking. The first two phases of concrete repairs were completed in 2017 utilizing the PC Concrete Street Repairs contract utilizing Cherokee Pride Construction.

The 2” asphalt mill and overlay portion of the project was sent out for quotes from (3) qualified local contractors on May 14, 2018 and quotes were received by May 18, 2018. Three quotes were received. The low quote was submitted by Ellsworth Construction, LLC., in the amount of $26,820.

Funding for the construction work will be funded from Fire Department general operations budget Project #183508.
