Background:
On April 2, 2018, Code Enforcement opened a case for a dilapidated structure at 818 East Elgin Place. An inspection showed the property to be in a dilapidated state. This is a cinder block house. The exterior walls have cracks and holes and the inside of the house has been gutted and is unlivable, which according to State Statue and City Ordinance, meets the definition of a dilapidated structure and eligible for demolition. On April 3, 2018, a Notice to Abate a Nuisance for Public Hearing for rehabilitation or demolition of the dilapidated structure was posted on the property and mailed certified to the property owner. There have been no applications filed for a building permit or a building permit.
