Presentation by the Tulsa City-County Library Staff regarding the Summer Reading Program, and possible action encouraging participation in the program and acceptance of the Tulsa Mayor’s challenge to area communities

End

Background:

Each summer, the Tulsa City-County Library promotes reading through special programs to help kids retain and enhance reading skills over the summer. This year’s summer reading program runs from May 29th to August 4th. Staff from the Tulsa City-County Library will be presenting this year’s program.

Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum is issuing a friendly challenge to other area mayors to see which community can have the highest percentage of children enrolled in Tulsa City-County Library’s Summer Reading Program.

The winning community will receive a special plaque to display for the year, as well as bragging rights for earning the distinction as a community of active readers.
