Ratification of Workers’ Compensation Settlement for Mike Burleson, General Services Department Employee

Background:
The City received an Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission Joint Petition Settlement for Mike Burleson, a former employee in the General Services Department. The Joint Petition Settlement is presented for the City Council’s approval.
On March 10, 2016, Mr. Burleson sustained an on the job injury. Mr. Burleson agreed to accept $21,488.00 in full and final settlement of all claims sustained as a result of this injury. Of this amount, $18,088.00 will be paid for permanent partial disability and $3,400.00 will be paid for vocational rehabilitation. The amount on $4,317.60 will be deducted from this settlement and paid to Mr. Burleson’s attorney.
The settlement directs the City to pay taxes in the sum of $590.92 and a filing fee in the sum of $140.00. These amounts were placed on the payment list for council approval.
The City’s Workers’ Compensation Attorney advises this is an acceptable offer.
Cost: $22,218.92
