Background:
For approximately ten years, members of the Fire Department have participated as members of the Oklahoma Taskforce-1 (OK TF-1) Urban Search and Rescue Team. OK TF-1 is comprised of emergency responders from multiple Tulsa Metro agencies with specialized training in rescue and disaster response. The team has responded to numerous regional disasters including tornados, floods, and ice storms. Members of the team and the agency they represent commit to participating for one year and renew that commitment annually.

Captain Jeremy Roberts has served on the team and has applied to renew his commitment.

If the City of Broken Arrow approves participation, it agrees to:

- Release the State of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, OK TF-1, the Oklahoma City Fire Department, and the Tulsa Fire Department from any and all claims suffered by the Participating Agency or its' employee(s) during any training, deployment, and/or exercise sponsored by OK TF-1.

- Provide the participating employee with coverage under Workers Compensation during any training, deployment, drills, and/or exercises offered or provided by OK TF-1.

- Participating employees will not suffer any loss of pay, rank, leave time, or opportunity while participating in any training, deployment, drill, and/or exercise sponsored by OK TF-1. The employee will be granted time off, or equivalent, for the duration of the event. The Participating Agency may seek reimbursement from Federal or State agencies to recoup expenses involved in the support of the participating employee provided within the scope of disaster activation.
