Ratification of the high visibility enforcement grant application and proposed agreement for Fiscal year 2017-2018 with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office

Background:
The Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office in the amount of $74,960.00. Funding will be utilized in the following purpose areas: (1) Speed Enforcement (2) Bicycle/Pedestrian Enforcement and (3) Car Seat Checks.
The proposed grant funds will specifically allow Officers to provide high visibility enforcement while in an overtime capacity in support of State and National goals to reduce the number of fatality, incapacitating, and non-incapacitating collisions in our community.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize acceptance of the grant award.
Cost: $74,960.00 to be reimbursed by grant
