Background:
The Fire Department has budgeted $68,000.00 in the Fiscal Year 2018 Fire Sales Tax Fund capital budget, for the purpose of purchasing new sets of structural firefighting protective ensembles to replace existing ensembles which are damaged beyond repair and/or beyond their usable service life.
The Fire Department competitively bid structural firefighting protective ensembles in March of 2017, with bid number 17.149. After careful review of each bid received, the Fire Department recommended, and council awarded the bid to Northern Safety.
This purchase will include 21 coats and 28 pants that will replace structural firefighting protective ensembles failing to meet current standards of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1851: Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting.
Cost: $64,694.00
